The results, which were reported yesterday afternoon, indicated that slightly more than half of the responders (51%) reported that they plan to vote for President Bush, while just under half of the responders (47%) revealed that they plan to vote for Senator Kerry.
The national e-survey was conducted by readmylipz.com, a partnership between Muhlenberg College Institute of Public Opinion (MCIPO) and HCD Research during November 1-2, among a nationally representative sample of 1,145 likely U.S. voters including Republicans, Democrats and Independents.
According to Glenn Kessler, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of HCD Research, they employed a proven methodology that his firm uses to conduct surveys and advertising research. “In 1996, we were one of the early adopters of Internet marketing and advertising research, and since then we have conduct numerous studies for many of our health care clients,” said Kessler. “We believe that our e-based surveys provide more representative data than traditional phone-based methods because the Internet enables us to obtain a larger sample and more importantly, it is much less intrusive,” Kessler explained.
As part of ReadMyLipz.com, HCD Research and Muhlenberg College Institute of Public Opinion (MCIPO), began conducting surveys and advertising research prior to the Iowa caucus. The two organizations used the Internet to conduct non-partisan studies and advertising research throughout the election to measure voter reactions to the candidates’ advertisements.
